We follow Phoenix on his journey from rookie lawyer who is flopping around and gasping and dripping like a fish on dry land, to a marginally less rookie lawyer who still does all the flopping and sweating, but now the prosecutor is obsessed with him.
Next time, we’re watching Kamen Rider W, the show with perhaps the most Matrix Evolution by volume, aside from Tamers itself.
We watched and read Holes, by Louis Sachar. Hey, did you know that they made a criminal justice system For Kids?
If you think about it, podcasting is just like digging a hole. You have to shovel the words out of your brain until you’ve made it all the way to the bottom of your Reaper recording. I’m good at metaphors.
Next time, we’re finishing up the LotR trilogy with Return of the King! Hope y’all are ready to climb Mt Doom with us.
We read Land of the Lustrous, a manga that really fuckin goes places.
Do you ever forget that your girlfriend exists for like a second? Do you ever feed your arms to a talking iceberg? Do you ever get digested by a snail, reconstituted from mineral particles in its shell, and then suddenly find that you can speak the snail’s language? Do you ever nap for 100 years? Phos does those things. They’re a pretty funny guy.
Next week, we’re covering Holes, by Louis Sachar. Book or movie version.
We returned to JRR Tolkien’s wild ride, with The Two Towers. A book where almost nothing exciting happens, but gosh darn it, we still love Samwise so so much.
I’m gonna be 100, I don’t actually remember too much of what happens in 2 Towers. Gollum shows up. Helm’s Deep happens. Sam and Frodo made me cry. That’s probably all the important stuff, right?
Next week, we’re covering Land of the Lustrous. Recommended reading is volumes 1-3 of the manga, with volumes 8 & 9 as extra credit. What if Steven Universe had a lot of body horror, and also contemplated how messed up it would be if you were immortal, and also at one point all human sapience in the universe is permanently eradicated.
We read/watched Fellowship of the Ring, and folks these silly little guys are in love.
What if a funny old man smoked a bunch of weed and told you surprise you have an evil artifact now and it needs to be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom. What if your gardener overheard, and next thing you know you’re sick in bed and he’s holding your hand just to keep it warm haha.
Next week, we’re covering Star Trek (TOS). The legendary series that originated slash fiction. Suggested watching is S1E15 Shore Leave, S1E24 This Side of Paradise, S2E1 Amok Time, S3E24 Turnabout Intruder, with extra credit S1E28 The City on the Edge of Forever
